Soldiers who have lost their sight

will definitely see our victory We strive to provide comprehensive support for vision restoration, eye prosthetics, rehabilitation, and improving the quality of life for people with visual impairments. Our goal is to provide everyone who has lost their sight with the necessary assistance and access to modern solutions.

About the Foundation

The charitable foundation was founded by a veteran who lost his sight during the war. Drawing on his own experience after being wounded, he decided to create a foundation to help people who have suffered partial or complete vision loss due to mine blast injuries and other circumstances.

Our mission is to provide comprehensive assistance aimed at vision restoration, ocular prosthetics, rehabilitation, and improving the quality of life for people with visual impairments. We work to ensure that everyone facing vision loss receives the necessary support and access to modern solutions.

The foundation actively seeks and implements innovative technologies, such as bionic eyes and advanced rehabilitation programs, to provide the most relevant modern methods of assistance in Ukraine.

We believe that even in the most difficult circumstances, it is possible to find a path to new opportunities. Our team is dedicated to making this journey more accessible, comfortable, and filled with hope for everyone who needs our help.

Projects
02.04.2025 Rehabilitation camps
A person who has lost their sight needs high-quality rehabilitation, which, unfortunately, our state cannot provide today. Thanks to our partners, the “Modern View” public organization, which includes qualified rehabilitation specialists and other specialists, we are able to provide high-quality rehabilitation and improve the quality of life of people with profound impairment or loss of vision. Rehabilitation camps are divided into several stages of varying complexity. Qualified psychological support and work with physiotherapists. Stabilize the patient’s emotional and physical state. Thanks to classes with occupational therapists and spatial orientation trainers, a person gains complete independence, which helps them at home and on the street. After learning to use assistive technologies, not only does it become possible to use gadgets such as a smartphone and a computer again, but the level of quality of life and independence increases on a daily basis. By supporting this project, you are giving a chance for a new, full life to those who are learning to live anew after losing their sight.

02.04.2025 Procurement of assistive technologies
There is a list of tools that are considered indispensable assistants in everyday life that increase a person’s independence. These are things like a white cane, various tips, a fluid sensor, and devices with voice guidance (scales, blood pressure monitors, thermometers, glucometers, etc.). Some of these technologies are provided by the state, but they do not meet the required quality and technical requirements requirements for convenient use. By supporting this project, you provide every person who needs it with a set of high-quality, modern tools to improve the quality of life.

02.04.2025 Unified Space
As a result of military operations, the number of vulnerable population groups to whom the correct attitude must be fostered is significantly increasing. Society must understand what correct communication is in order to avoid causing harm, either morally or physically. Today, the country is undergoing a major restructuring to achieve barrier-free and accessibility in any field, starting from educational institutions, with an emphasis on future generations, and ending with big business, the services of which everyone has the right to use conveniently and safely. By supporting this project, you are helping to raise public awareness of extremely important topics and create a safe society for everyone.

28.02.2025 Purchase of corneas
Unfortunately, in Ukraine, corneal replacement or so-called keratobioprosthetics is still not included in the NHSU package, that is, it is not funded by the state. We purchase biomaterial from the only corneal bank in Ukraine, after which it is sent for testing to the first clinical hospital in Kyiv. It is there that experienced specialists work, thanks to partnerships with which our soldiers undergo keratobioprosthetics and further treatment. By supporting this project, you give those who have suffered mine-related injuries a chance to see the light again.

How is the rehabilitation of veterans who have lost their sight going?

The Village Ukraine editorial team asked Vladyslav Yeshchenko and Olesya Perepechenko why servicemen with vision loss often refuse to use a white cane, why they don’t always need Braille, what applications blind people use to interact with the world, how their rehabilitation is going in general, and what can be done in Kyiv to make the environment for people with visual impairments barrier-free.
